espanolEl objetivo de este articulo es describir la situacion actual de la internacionalizacion de las pymes del sector metalmecanico de la ciudad de Cartagena. La Metodologia que se utilizo fue un estudio descriptivo que adopto un diseno de investigacion no experimental, transversal y mixta o integrada que estudio una poblacion de 17 pymes, y una muestra de 11 empresas de la ciudad de Cartagena, recopilando la informacion por medio de encuesta y entrevista. Los principales resultados arrojaron que la mayoria de las pymes estudiadas no tienen ningun tipo de acercamiento con la internacionalizacion; igualmente, la mayoria tienen nula experiencia en los mercados internacionales. Se puede apreciar un vacio en el conocimiento de la normativa. En conclusion, la situacion antes descrita exige un mayor apoyo por parte del Ministerio de Comercio y de Proexport, Fedemetal, las IES, el Sena, la Camara de Comercio, la Alcaldia Distrital, y el Gobierno Departamental. EnglishThe objective of this article is to describe the current situation of the internationalization of SMEs in the metalworking sector of the city of Cartagena. The methodology used was a descriptive study that adopted a non-experimental, transversal and mixed or integrated research design that studied a population of 17 SMEs, and a sample of 11 companies in the city of Cartagena, collecting the information through a survey and interview The main results showed that most of the SMEs studied do not have any kind of approach to internationalization; likewise, most have no experience in international markets. You can see a gap in the knowledge of the regulations. In conclusion, the situation described above requires greater support from the Ministry of Commerce and Proexport, Fedemetal, the IES, the Seine, the Chamber of Commerce, the District Mayor's Office, and the Departmental Government.
