In this study it was made an analysis of the situation of current mental health about family functioning, anxiety, depression of the students of Social Work of four cohorts of the Universidad Industrial de Santander, against their income psychosocial status. It is a quantitative research, with longitudinal design, by cohorts, with test and retest, with a population of 109 students, evaluated through “family APGAR”, anxiety, and Zung depression scale tests. With respect to the percentage of current family dysfunction, it is relevant to highlight that it has decreased significantly by 16.49 percent, also that the current depression (33, 07%) is highly superior to those reported in the re-test (19.16%). On the number of current anxiety (18.6%) is maintained (18.6%). The mentioned tests complemented by others filled out on admission (University students mental health test TSMU, Inventory of study and learning style IHEA, Cage’s Test) and with an instrument with questions about student’s experience in it passing through the university in the moment of the retest application. It is concluded that the passage by the University is not a protective factor for the student despite the great institutional effort to intervene this problem and their purposes acomprehensive training of the young as a professional and citizen.
