The purpose of this paper is to find the link between the efficacy of the rule of recognition and the coactive support of law with the situation of the judges in Colombia’s conflict zones. The first part of this paper is entirely dedicated to introduce the theoric concepts in Herbert L.A Hart and Hans Kelsen. Afterwards, it goes through the violence in the regions of Putumayo and Uraba and the situation of the judges in both regions. The paper also focuses on the term or concept of “efficacy” from Mauricio Garcia’s construction of its two manifestations: the instrumental efficacy and the symbolic efficacy. Finally the paper concludes with a brief revision of all the concepts and some conclusions.
