Resumen: Este articulo de revision muestra los principales hallazgos de investigaciones sobre el tema de la actitud hacia la lectura, factor que se considera determinante para adquirir el habito lector y para el optimo desempeno en la vida academica. Durante la revision bibliografica se selecciono un conjunto de 62 trabajos que estudian el rol de la actitud en el proceso lector. Con la exhaustiva indagacion en bases de datos academicas se pudo observar cuales son las actitudes hacia la lectura predominantes en estudiantes de distintas edades, como varian y los modos en que su estudio conduce a repensar las practicas de ensenanza de la lectura con miras a proponer estrategias para superar la predisposicion negativa y mejorar el desempeno academico de ninos y jovenes. Palabras clave: Actitudes hacia la lectura, motivacion, alfabetizacion academica, comprension lectora, habito lector Abstract: This review article shows the main findings of several studies regarding attitudes toward reading as a determinant factor to acquire the reading habit and have a good performance in academic field. During the bibliographic review, several studies and research papers that deal with the role of the attitudes in reading process were collected. To do the bibl iographic review, many academic databases were consulted and that allows to observe which are the most frequent attitudes of children and young people toward reading, how they could vary and how its study could contribute to think in innovative strategies to overcome the negative attitude and improve students' academic performance.
