The increment of the area to be planted with sugarcane in Cuba demands solutions to complete the foreseen plans. Because of the high yield, the mechanized plantation becomes in one of the alternatives and for that was manufactured in the country the AZT 6000 sugar cane planter. With the objective to evaluate the agronomic requirements of this planter, the research was carried out in a Humic Gleysol soil. The C 323-68 variety was planted with the dual row technology and in mound plantation. The procedures applied follow those settled down in the Cuban Standards. The results indicated that the machine meet the agronomic requirements because it has the suitable gage distance according to the plantation system, achieves an distribution of 26 buds per lineal meter, places the stalk pieces lengthwise in the furrow, not damages the bud in the plantation process and rectifies the furrow in mound surfaces. To obtain a balanced distribution of the stalks among both rows it is necessary to place a divider keel, and to improve the discharge system of the planter.
