Facing the new global scenarios - the sustantial change of the the global economic dynamics with its location in Asia Pacific region - Colombia’s foreign policy must be revised and adjusted to adapt to these new global parameters. Under this premise, the main objective of this research is to analyze Colombia’s role in the regional integration process called the Pacific Alliance as a platform from which commercial and political relations with the Asia-Pacific region can be projected. For these purposes, in the first instance the progress that Colombia has had with the Association of Southeast Asian Na-tions, known as ASEAN, is examined, and in the second instance, it investigates the relationship of Colombia with three Asian powers, namely China, Japan and South Korea. The foregoing and in the first place, from the perspective of the change of paradigm for the understanding of the world system, characterized by the multipolarity of these first years of the 21st century and secondly, subject to the globalization process that has allowed the global consolidation of new political and economic social actors. Under these global scenarios, the Asia Pacific region has emerged as a new geopolitical and eco-nomic referent, but Colombia’s role is still incipient and its process of economic insertion is very weak.
