This article is aimed at highlighting the results and lessons learned from the systematization of the experience held at the Global Business Exchange Program -GloBus. This program is coordinated by the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and its objective is to promote a commercial exchange between small and medium-sized Colombian and German companies that previously received professional assistance and preparation leading to the exchange. Under the experiential learning model (theoretical-practical or dual training), SMEs learned, through playing and the transfer of experiences, the basis for strengthening business exchange and commercial relations. The nature of this article is qualitative. The information was obtained from semi-structured interviews to entrepreneurs and from the experiences of the professionals who accompanied the training process in two phases of execution in different years. Among the findings the cultural knowledge and the generation of trust appeared as relevant factors for the success of the business exchange process; also the global and long-term vision of the business and the environmental and sustainability issues prevailing in the German market.
