This article exposes the findings of an empirical and interpretative study, focused on the formative assessment of investigative competences, through self-asessment and peer assessment. 180 students participated in the subject Educational Research, in the Degree in Child Pedagogy, of the University of Pamplona, Colombia. They had to carry out a research project containing: problem statement, objectives, justification and theoretical foundation. For the assessment, a questionnaire was used that focused on the adequate construction, content and form of the project. In conclusion, the formative and shared assessment enabled the development of the following competences: a) identification of an object of study, b) Formulation of research questions, c) problem approach, and d) team work.
