Thie purpose of this research is to analyze the political, economic, socio-cultural and environmental implications that underlie the communitary library-foundation La Fuerza de las Palabras, in the neighborhood of La Nueva Gloria in San Cristobal Sur, as a social initiative. Therefore, through a qualitative methodological approach, interviews and observation exercises that were carried out allowed the recovery of information and data of interest for the research. At the political focus, the communitary library-foundation emerges as a social initiative that seeks to satisfy the needs of the community that have not been covered by the State and the District, particularly in matters of literacy and access to knowledge. At the economic perspective, the leader of the initiative does not have the necessary economic resources for the adequate functioning and organization of the project, for which reason he has resorted to the title of foundation to receive donations and other resources that allow the communitary library to stay afloat. As for the socio-cultural aspect, La Fuerza de las Palabras at first, when there was space in the library, sought to conduct workshops in reading, writing, languages and other cultural activities with the children of the neighborhood to contribute to their education. Finally, there is also an underlying environmental factor, since the reuse of books that results from the donation and recovery of books from the garbage contributes to the care of the environment despite the fact that there is a massive production of books in the publishing industry.
