This research proposal addresses a reception plan to foster the intercultural communication and to enhance the integration of non-Spanish-speaking families and students to the educational community of San Bartolome La Merced School in Bogota, Colombia. Our intention is to promote concrete actions to the different members of the educational community for regarding the arrival of foreign students to the institution. The digital version of the reception plan was designed taking into account three audiences: families, the counselling service of the school and teachers. Our proposal suggests concrete actions and information that can be taken into account by the different actors that participate in the arrival of foreign families and students to school. The research also intends to give continuity to the “needs analysis” previously elaborated by researchers, who are colleges in the institution within the framework of applied linguistics of Spanish as a foreign language. Throughout its design, we approach through intercultural communication, interculturality in the theoretical framework as conceptual aspects. The methodology developed in reception plans that precede this research was useful when taking into account the needs expressed by the different educational community members at present and the design of the material.
