This research arose from the need for a reflection on music and its contribution to the construction of a culture of peace. The research work presented below is the result of an inquiry into the role of music in the process of reconciliation and building a culture of peace in societies that have decided to end an armed conflict, as is the case in Colombia. Therefore, the objective of this research is to make visible the contribution of music to the process of reconciliation and healing in communities affected by the armed conflict and the vision of other actors who have participated in music to contribute to that process. The reflections I raise are based on the importance of materializing the silenced speeches and the different types of memory that occur in the communities. Likewise, the role of music to create identity, empower people and, finally, its contribution to building a culture with citizens living in harmony respecting their differences is investigated. In summary, this research work tries to underline the ability of music to build peace and the social fabric.
