In this project, the FIFO method (first in entering first out) is applied to the control of inventories in the Empresa Colombina S.A. with Malambo Branch. Estimated data of inventory and sales that has been registered in the company in a period of 6 months in 2018 are used and with this information, it is intended to make a contrast with the current method used by the company (cyclical inventory) and analyze which generates greater impact when controlling the stock. The general objective is to minimize storage costs and guarantee quality in the management of the inventory process by applying the FIFO method to the inventory data. This project contributes to provide improvements in the operational and financial situation of the company, from the process of preparing the forecast for the management of purchase orders, to its regional distribution. The project is structured in 3 phases, being the first phase where the integral diagnosis of the current inventory system is performed. The second phase consists of formulating the proposal for the application of the FIFO method for the control of inventories based on the results of the analysis of the diagnosis. Finally, the third phase is performed by simulating the data provided by the application of the method used and comparing the operations and economic results with respect to the current method used for inventory control
