EnglishTourism publications, in addition to promoting specific destinations, construct representations about the destination cities and the subjects that inhabit them. With the new technologies, these publications have adopted formats such as blogs and videoblogs that have the ability to circulate these representations massively and allow readers not only to consume information, but also to produce it. In this paper, a discursive analysis of Naughty Nomad is made, a blog that works as a travel guide for men from North America and Europe. These, in addition to visiting tourist destinations, are looking for strategies or tools that facilitate erotic experiences with women. We are interested in showing how in this tourist publication, which has male travelers from developed countries as ideal readers, an eroticized representation of Cartagena de Indias is built, one of the most important tourist destinations in Colombia and also one of the most unequal cities in this country. For this, some conceptual tools provided by the Critical Discourse Analysis (punctually the follow-up to actors and actions) and the reflection on the textual genres proposed by the Functional Systemic Linguistics are taken by assuming the blog entry as a text inscribed in the genre of the tourist guide.
