The adolescence stage in which the majority of eating habits and practices adopted throughout life were acquires. It is therefore necessary to influence this point in healthy habits and practices, preventing future non-communicable chronic diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the dietary practices and nutritional quality of the dietary intake of adolescents of the Toberin District School through the Healthy Eating Index (HEI) during the first half of 2017. As a methodology, it was a descriptive study Cross-sectional study with a population of 83 adolescents (71% female and 29% male), ranging in age from 14 to 17 years. Three components were evaluated: food consumption (using a qualitative consumption frequency and two 24-hour multi-step reminders), food practices (through five questions on the frequency of consumption questionnaire) and nutritional quality (Made through the Healthy Eating Index). As a result, the daily consumption of rice (77%), potato (59%) and bread (57%) is highlighted; Weekly egg (47%), beef (61%) and fruit (24%); As for food practices, 40% of adolescents consume four meal times per day, 82% consume their food in company and 46% use the institutional dining room; In nutritional quality, it was reported that 42% of the population had unhealthy food, 25% needed changes and 20% had a healthy diet. In conclusion, there is a deficient dietary intake in terms of energy (1865 kcal), protein (66 g), carbohydrates (296 g) and fat (58 g), as required for the age group. Also, for nutritional quality, only 20% of adolescents are classified as eating healthy.
