Spanish Abstract: En esta investigacion de tipo pre-experimental se determino y evaluo la incidencia de la aplicacion de una tecnica de lectura rapida para hacer posible la comprension en forma directa sin que medie la traduccion. fenomeno natural pero de demasiada dependencia en estudiantes de ingles tecnico. La aplicacion de la lectura rapida guiada permitio observar y determinar cuantitativamente mejorias significativas en cuanto a la velocidad de lectura sin detrimento de la comprension. El estudio apunta como lo establece la teoria psicolinguistica de la lectura a que la velocidad esta positivamente correlacionada con la comprension. English Abstract: This pre-experimental research shows the effects of the application of a fast reading technique (skimming) on the development of reading speed and reading comprehension on university informatics students. It was determined and evaluated that it is possible to understand English directly without translation being mediated of technical reading material. The application of guided rapid reading allowed quantitatively significant improvement in reading speed without detriment to understanding. This study points out to support the psycholinguistic process of reading and establishes that speed is positively correlated with comprehension.
