He present work seeks to understand the context of the parable of the Good Samaritan (Lk 10, 29-37), which has in verse 37b the invitation to live and assume mercy in the Christian life. In this regard, the first chapter will explain the mercy from the Hebrew etymology and the Greek terms that are translated by mercy. Then, the narrative analysis of the parable of the Good Samaritan will be developed, for which the pericope will be delimited and contextualized. In addition, this section will address mercy from the Old and New Testaments, of which the need to practice mercy as a seal of the believer who is committed to following Jesus is highlighted; the second general conference of Latin American episcopate and other magisterial documents that promote a pastoral renewal; and also the principle-mercy of Jon Sobrino In the second chapter the term mercy will be revised in some parents of the Church such as: Ignatius of Antioch and Origen; also, the contributions of Misericordiae Vultus, Dives in Miserciordiae; and mercy will be exposed as an ecclesial proposal of the Christian life from the Magisterium of the Church. And, in the third chapter the life of Saint John Eudes will be explained, and for this an approach to the Eudist spirituality will be made; and what is related to the understanding of mercy as the itinerary proposed by Saint John Eudes, and a possible update of the spiritual proposal.
