espanolEn este trabajo se busca evaluar la validez teorica del Inventario de Estilo de Pensamiento (TSI por su sigla en ingles) analizando su estructura factorial. El TSI se aplico a 498 adolescentes escolarizados bogotanos entre los 13 y los 20 anos procedentes de 4 instituciones educativas. La confiabilidad del inventario se estimo mediante el alfa de Cronbach y, ademas, se llevo a cabo un analisis factorial exploratorio. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron una estructura factorial diferente a la propuesta originalmente por Sternberg sin embargo, los tres primeros factores hallados se pueden identificar con los tipos de pensamiento I, II y III propuestos por Zhang y Sternberg (2006). Finalmente se propone una version reducida del TSI compuesta por 83 items. EnglishThis work aims to evaluate the construct validity of the Thinking Style Inventory (TSI) by analyzing its factor structure. The inventory was applied to 498 teenage students between 13 and 20 years old, from four high schools from Bogota. The reliability was estimated using Cronbach's alpha and an exploratory factor analysis was also carried out. Results show a different factor structure than the originally proposed by Sternberg. Nevertheless, the first three factors might be identified as thinking styles I, II and III presented by Zhang y Sternberg (2006). Finally, a reduced version of TSI with 83 items is proposed.
