The Universidad Libre de Cali established in 2003 an investigation group in order to analyze child labor in the Colombian Pacific, beginning from people’s roots, traditions, customs, legends, myths and beliefs towards child labor, prenatal care and the newborn. This is the result obtained from an initial quality based investigation, conducted over different periods of time. The University and its Health Department wanted to give special attention to Primary Health Care and Promotion, from a transcultural background, being this a new perspective in nursing. Having the methods and necessary tools to begin work in the field, such as field-diaries, information logs, interviews, workshops, photographs, encounters, the experiences were properly registered, taking into account social cartography. This process allowed us to get closer to cultural aspects of child labor, relating this specifically to what was happening in La Independencia in the municipality of Buenaventura, in which the Child Labor Association is located.
