As the Lasallian educational project was created in the modern day, the reading of its commitment to the education of citizens from the social epistemology of education is proposed. In order to do this, the knowledge, educational practices, languages and mediations which enabled a type of model citizen in the past are discussed, and are presented in five principal themes for the education of the 21st-century citizen, in relation to the foundational model.
