The activities carried out in university research centers are fundamental for the development and progress of countries; therefore these must count, among other things, on a proper technological investment. Thus, this work allowed determining the funding sources for technological investment in university research centers, studying close those centers that integrate the human sciences at the University of Zulia (Venezuela). The main findings show that they resort to internal and external sources; thus, it can be concluded that they mainly use the budget allocation by the State as a source of external funding and have weaknesses in the generation of their own revenue derived from particular services that can be offered in each research center.
