The loss of a parental figure during adolescence is an experience with a high level of complexity for the individual that crosses it, since it is in a period of the life cycle of great difficulty that poses numerous losses and at the same time challenges accompanied by high expectations, that is why losing a parental figure, be it father, mother or whoever has exercised these functions, generates a diversity of effects and consequences in the psyche of the individual; This research aimed to describe the experience of four adolescents with an age range of 14 to 17 years who lost a parental figure in a period of time from 6 to 24 months, their experience was compiled from their experiences, it was intended to analyze the meanings associated with this loss, describing the relational changes experienced by adolescents who have lost a parental figure and identifying the coping strategies to which they turn. The conclusions of the study present a general scenario on the experience of the loss of a parental figure during adolescence, the changes that this loss implies in three areas: the family space, the social environment and the aspects related to the self, in the same way , the coping strategies that adolescents resort to (company search / isolation, the meanings associated with the loss that arise from the experiences prior to the loss and the loss itself.
