This report describes the contributions of the parish youth groups in relation to the development of life skills for the young people who participate and belong to it, framed in contexts of poverty and violence. The research was conducted with young people belonging to youth parish groups of the city of Medellin, whose ages range from 16 to 21 years of age; making a tour of three key moments of these groups and their participants, the first of them has to do with the life prior to entering the group, where realities such as the meaning of life, consumption of SPA, sexual life, motivations were addressed , among other. Then, the dynamics of the youth group were addressed, taking into account the construction of identity and its contributions, functionality as a symbolic and significant space for young people and some achievements. Finally, social action and contributions to the young person as an individual and as a group are described. One of the main findings has to do with the contributions to self-knowledge and decision-making, thus favoring the construction of the identity of the young people belonging to it; in addition to the importance of these youth groups as protective factors against violence in their neighborhoods.
