This research paper aims at making a diagnosis and recommending different strategies to stimulate sustainable tourism in Hatolaguna and Daito, Tota lake region. As a result, different types of activities were done for area recognition, identification of its tourist attractions, as well as identifying its economic, social, cultural and environmental conditions. For this reason, some experiences related with sustainable rural tourism were documented; objectives of sustainable development were revised and their impact on Aquitania town, in Boyaca. This paper is a non- experimental, descriptive research which applied several techniques such as field work, semi structured interviews to local agents, tourists, proprietors and government officers by using triangulation as an analytical tool, which allowed the characterization of home- building stimulation in the aforementioned areas. In addition, there was a proposal of a tourist route that contributed to protect the natural and cultural patrimony of this region. The natural and cultural attractions identified and recognized during the development of this work made it possible to determine that they are highly contributory to the municipality to revitalize the tourism that was lived in the 60's and 70's and improve the income of its inhabitants, by means of other activities other than the cultivation of long onions. At the end of the study, the main conclusions are the need to generate training spaces for the people of the villages, in order to raise awareness not only in relation to the management of the environment through an adequate and controlled use of the elements (fungicides) used for agricultural activity, but also in terms of environmental management reflected in aspects such as the collection of garbage and in general the components associated with cleanliness both of the areas targeted by tourism and eventually of homes with potential for revitalization and from the governmental level the need to generate plans and projects that route the necessary actions to achieve a majority tourist recognition of the area under study, taking into account its great potential in terms not only natural but also cultural in the region.
