The aim of the present work is to understand divergences and convergences in historical developments of the relation between Social Movements and Political Parties in Colombia and Venezuela. In order to obtain the former, common and diverging elements through structures of political systems in both countries are tackled, undertaking a documentary critical analysis. It is explained that in Venezuela the development of a political power built in hero-worshipping, although allows a constant interaction among social movements and political parties, political society finally absorb social movements making them lose autonomy and capacity of influence. In Colombia, paternalism and traditional ways of domination have blocked the development of social movements with national affectation condemning them to marginalization. The text presents some elements which allow understanding contemporaneity of social movements MM. SS regarding political systems.
