Condiciones de seguridad y salud en el trabajo de los trabajadores informales que laboran en un centro comercial de la ciudad de Bogotá, durante los meses de septiembre y octubre de 2017
Informal work is one of the major topics of economic and social debate of the last decade, especially in developing countries. This quantitative, descriptive-transversal, non-experimental study documents the health and work conditions of 103 informal merchants in a commercial center in Bogota. The II National Survey of Health and Work Conditions of the General System of Labor Risks of the Ministry of Labor was applied. Among the most relevant results, it was found that the workers are between 18 and 45 years old and the socioeconomic stratum that predominated was 2 and 3. The most common type of employment relationship is the verbal contract. Likewise, it was evidenced that one of the most common practices used by the owners of the premises is the non-affiliation to the social security and labor risks system. Likewise, it was found that the majority of daily working hours range from 9 to 12 hours, being the most frequent work from Sunday to Sunday with a weekly rest day. In terms of working conditions, the risk agents that most recognize and perceive informal traders in their workplaces, are exposure to noise, inadequate lighting, insufficient space for the development of work, positions of fatigue or pain and heavy loads. Regarding health conditions, it was discovered that most merchants consider having good or very good health. Only one worker reports having been diagnosed with occupational disease and only 7.8% report having suffered an injury due to an accident at work.
