Infidelity is a behavior that has not been studied thoroughly on an academic level, specially that which occurs in young adult relationships. Due to this disciplinary void, this investigation was proposed, based on the knowledge of the predictive link between factors such as commitment, satisfaction and investment, and their connection with intentions towards infidelity. For the purpose of this investigation, 200 young adults: 138 women (69%) and 62 men (31%) participated in a survey. With the objective of proving the prediction of the independent variables over the dependent variable, Pearson’s Correlation Model was used, as well as the ANOVA lineal regression model. The study showed that, in general, women tend to score higher than men do in the link between variables and their prediction levels. This process showed that satisfaction in the most predictive variable of intentions towards infidelity, even though its regression index was not as high. On the other side, investment and commitment display a low correlation level and an almost null prediction index. It is expected that this study’s findings provide great utility for the discipline of Psychology, and that they can be used as the groundwork for expanding the subject of investigation and work with prevention and treatment models.
