Obstetric violence has become a public health problem because it can affect the well-being of the pregnant woman in the physical and psychological spheres; Which, in tum, can have consequences on their health and that of the newbom. In addition, many unnecessary practices during childbirth have normalized in obstetric care, as they are not perceived as violent or are overlooked by women or health personnel. The objective of this research is to study obstetric violence in Colombia, its visibility in the norms, policies and perceptions of women affected. For this, it was analyzed how some common practices not necessary during the care of pregnancy, labor, delivery and puerperium, can be considered expressions of obstetric violence. This was done based on a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive methodology that was developed in two components: documentary review and case analysis. First, a literature search was carried out on the subject of obstetric violence. In addition, normativity was reviewed at a global, Latin American and Colombian level, which allowed us to navigate between the visibility of obstetric violence or not. From the above, it was tdentified that many of the normative documents are arranged to guarantee a humanized treatment of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium, but there is no clarity in the fulfillment of these by the actors. After the review of the documents, an analysis of cases of women with particular experiences during pregnancy, labor, delivery and puerperium was carried out. All this through the technique of content analysis and this allowed to encode the Information, categorize it and integrate it to make deductions about the subject from the experiences of women. Although at the national level work has been done on the reduction and control of matemalperinatal morbidity and mortality, and in improving the quality of health service delivery, the phenomenon of violence in the obstetric area still exists Challenges to be developed. ix It is concluded that a key point to continue the path towards the elimination of any type of violence against women, particularly in pregnant women, is the Impetus and motivation to empower and raise the voice of women, to address the health system and The educational, and knowing the point of view of the other faces of the provision of health Services.
