Diseño y validación de un instrumento de evaluación de la discapacidad en personas con lesión medular crónica, basado en el Core Set abreviado de la CIF: componente validez concurrente
To determine the concurrent validity between the Instrument for the assessment of disability in people with chronic spinal cord injury SCI-DAS. Methodology: A cross-sectional correlational descriptive study was carried out with the participation of 100 people with spinal cord injury of more than six months of evolution from four Colombian cities. Validation tests of the SCI-DAS instrument were performed with the AIS Deficiency Scale (American Spinal Injury Association [ASIA] Impairment Scale), and the WHO-DAS II Disability Scale. Results: The disability measured with the SCI-DAS showed a moderate significant correlation with the neurological level, the motor and sensory index AIS, and high with the disability measured with the WHO-DAS II (p .05). The validity coefficient for the set of predictors, evaluated using a multiple regression model, was .77. Conclusion: the concurrent validity of the SCI-DAS instrument with the AIS deficiency scale and with the WHO Disability Scale - WHO-DAS II was evidenced. The SCI-DAS, by adopting the WHO conceptual model of disability, follows the line of other instruments created under this approach, strengthening the biopsychosocial vision of people, necessary to promote intervention strategies aimed at achieving true processes of social inclusion. The concurrent validity found between the SCI-DAS instrument and the WHO-DAS II reiterates these findings.
