This research article outlines the results of the analysis of intercultural communication between national and foreign postgraduate students at universities in Venezuela, particularly the Maracaibo-Zulia State. The theoretical bases are centered on the referents of Soriano (2007), Alsina (2012), among others. It is classified as an exploratory, descriptive, field and explanatory study, its design being non-experimental and transectional. The population is made up of one hundred and fifty-two (152) national and foreign informants, in this case Colombians residing in their country, students of the Master's Sciences of Communication and Marketing Management of the Rafael Belloso Chacin University (URBE) and Masters In Social Development of the University of Zulia (LUZ). A structured data collection instrument was designed with twenty-eight (28) items, validated by five (05) experts and obtained a reliability of 0.84 according to the Alpha Cronbach coefficient. Being that, the language allows to recognize a student belonging to another culture although not all the words emitted by the participants in the interpersonal encounter are understood, however, to remain in the group facilitates to know cultures different from the own one. It is concluded that intercultural communication is based on implemented values, which through pragmatics allows it to share knowledge of cultural diversity with respect, thus valuing the cultural aspect.
