The experience was made by means of the installationof a monitoring station denominated LosMonjes at 3531 msnm in the Paramo de Chontales,of Sotaquira municipality, Boyaca state, which wasoperating the months of June, July, August, Septemberand December of 2010 and January of 2011.During the 184 days of evaluation a total 4416 datawas compiled wind direction and speed data of hourregularity. It was observed that the total average ofwind speed was of 4.57 m/s. corresponding withthe IDEAM data which they consider that in themountainous zone Western Center of Boyaca, thatcorresponds to the mountainous of Russia, Chontalesand Iguaque has winds that oscillate between3 and 5 m/s with average speed of the wind in surface,in multiannual average. The eolic power densityfor the density of the air during the discontinuousperiod of evaluation was of 410 Watts/m2.Within this the months with a greater contributionin power terms were August, June and July with135,52 Watts/m2, 75,20 Watts/m2 and 63,68 Watts/m2 respectively. The value average of this parameterfor the six months of monitoring was 75.94 Watts/m2. The considered amount of electrical energy inkWh/day that potentially could be generated bymeans of a wind generator of 10 kW of nominalpower, assuming an area of sweeping of 50.26 m2, adensity of the air of 0.8081 Kg/m3 and a period ofevaluation of 4416 hours, was of 4079.84 kWh thatis equivalent to 22.17 kWh/day which they wouldserve to supply to a total of 14 houses with a basicconsumption average of 1.55 kWh/day.
