The present work evaluates the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral interventions based on cognitive restructuring (CR) for the treatment of depression in adults; a meta-analysis was carried out that included an extensive documentary review of the available research (1985 - 2018), and the evaluation of the effectiveness of these protocols by means of the strictly standardized mean difference (SSMD) in a fixed effect analysis model. It was found that cognitive restructuring has a moderate effect throughout the available literature (SSMD = 0.32 ± 0.16), but it is considered necessary to continue and expand this work due to the lack of information from other sources such as gray literature, or data acquired in more varied contexts
