Within the environment of the University Institution EAM from Quindio – Colombia, research projects are implemented in order to promote development processes in the institution and strengthen research groups, a project has been established by the software engineering program entitled Application of visual analytics in software engineering program to support decision making, which seeks to implement knowledge Discovery processes with visual analytics, from open data. Among the objectives proposed for the execution of the project, is the realization of a systemic analysis of related works, technologies (for visual analytics with open data approach) and / or approaches (available methodologies in university areas) for the elaboration of Dashboards where the The university community will be able to carry out its own analyzes on these predefined reports. For this, different factors must be considered, among them the context in which the University Institution operates, which is similar to any higher education institution in Colombia, in order to choose the most suitable approach for the successful execution of the project. It should be noted that what is presented in this article only addresses the analysis of available technologies or tools that were evaluated for their implementation in a university environment.
