In ancient Greece, education was influenced by the events of everyday life, which were divided between the polis and war. In the middle of this tension one would find the virtues of the warrior and the citizen; the former being framed by military service, the latter by political service. Socrates’s teaching will however be a roadblock for this kind of education: he aims to change the paradigm of what is virtue, which were the virtues and how they could be actually taught. But what is then the education that Socrates opposed?
