Freedom of speech is a fundamental right that differs from other rights because it is the center of almost all forms of freedom. Even so, it has limits. The limitations occur when the reputation of others can be affected and when national security or public order is at risk. The reason why this right is so conflicting relies on the fact that, unlike the others, it crosses with several fundamental rights such as freedom of thought, freedom of conscience and respect for religious beliefs. This thesis analyzed some of the cartoons that the French magazine has published related to Muslims and the religion they profess.
