Emotional intelligence (EI) is the ability of individuals to know their emotions and the surrounding environment, to orient them to a specific or positive purpose, the objective of this study was to identify the emotional intelligence of employees of a family business in the city of Cartagena. The results showed that the evaluated individuals have clarity about their emotions, which facilitates control in the work environment, however, the attention dimension was below the acceptance range, which translates into little interest in understanding and knowing their emotions, it was also observed that the collaborators have little regulation of their emotions.
