current process of reconnection of the municipality of Mompox with its own territory and the rest of the country through multiple road and transport infrastructure works (Yati-La Bodega bridge, Airport, Container Route, etc.) and changes in the spatial needs of contemporary habit, represent a risk for the conservation of the architectural heritage of the city of Mompox. This is the theme of the history of architecture in Colombia: The Hispanic roots of architecture in Colombia, is composed mostly by domestic architecture. This is also evident in the Mompox Special Management and Protection Plan (PEMP, 2007), which proposes, among others, two key points that are also the pillars on which they build this work: First, although in Mompox religious architecture and civil society has been the protagonist of extensive research, domestic architecture, the agreement to date and date, it seems to be the same and the great interest, and therefore, the documents that nurture knowledge, not only of the academy and the professions related to the conservation of heritage, but also, and, still more important, of the people who inhabit these buildings and, finally, those who are obliged to watch over their conservation. Second, in an area with a growing economic dynamic as currently project in the municipality of Mompox, seemingly more profitable uses in the soil (such as what can be trade and industry, including hotel) exert a level of pressure partner -economic that remains at risk the permanence of domestic use and therefore, permanent residents of the sector. spatial structure of domestic buildings is essentially a response to the needs of inhabiting said space as a dwelling. Although an appropriate intervention on a space of domestic character, which is subject to being conserved by its heritage values, could contemplate changes of use or mixed uses, we must never forget that this object is part of a context. And such urban-architectural context is also and unfolds, due to the dynamics that compose it. Decomposing the social fabric of a certain sector puts at risk the conservation of spatial structures, constructive techniques and ways of living, which are pillars of heritage values to be conserved. For this reason, research on domestic architecture in the historic center of the city of Mompox is of great importance for the conservation of a place that has been declared a Cultural Heritage of the National Order and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In conclusion, I propose a 'typological approach' for the critical study of such buildings, thus being able to propose a series of replicable principles for their intervention for the sake of their integral conservation and the improvement of the quality of life of their inhabitants.
