This work is carried out in the framework of an investigation conducted by Professor Milton E. Bermudez-Jaimes entitled: of involvement, the quality of the relationship and the paternal competence of dads and mothers for the welfare and emotional security of children families of three different contexts in which the variables of parenthood are evaluated in their cognitive, behavioral and affective dimensions and their relationship with child welfare in different contexts. For this research, we use the data from one of these contexts: Bogota, and the variables of attachment and parental involvement are taken into account. The following work seeks to contribute to the discipline of developmental psychology and family studies, and takes part in the tradition of the theory of attachment developed by John Bowlby (1959), which subsequently received Contributions from other psychologists and psychiatrists (notably Mary Ainsworth. It is proposed to develop a knowledge situated and applicable to the national population, which results in the strengthening of the discipline at the national level.
