Evaluación de la calidad y eficacia de material educativo en salud de tipo visual-impreso, utilizado en las cajetillas de cigarrillos de las campañas antitabaco
To evaluate the quality and efficacy of the visual / printed health educational material used in cigarette packages of anti-smoking campaigns. Methodology: Evaluative study, quantitative approach of transversal descriptive cut; 171 smokers evaluated 21 images of packs of cigarettes, used in Colombia, through an instrument of the Pan American Health Organization - PAHO. We analyzed means for continuous and discontinuous variables, proportions for categorical or nominal variables, with their respective confidence intervals (CI). In the analytical phase, Pearson's Chi Square parametric test was used; statistical significance was accepted with a value of p <0.05. Results: The smokers identify that the images need reforms, indicating that the material partially fulfills its objective as educational material in health. The 21 images are evaluated as unattractive, accepted, understood and do not induce to stop smoking. There is a statistical association between the criterion of acceptance of the images and gender of the participants in the study (p = 0.05), as well as the criterion of induction to the action of the images and the level of education of the smoked population intervened (p. = 0.03). Conclusions: It is suggested to reform the educational material that is exposed in the cigarettes packets, in such a way that they respond to the internationally defined guidelines and the objective of becoming a means to transmit public health messages, in terms of perception of risk and changes in Real behavior against cigarette smoking.
