Colombian refugees have been victims of violations of human rights in their country since their lives have been affected by the Colombian armed conflict and some other factors. This has generated forced displacement and as consequence, the search of refuge in neighbor countries, such as Equator, its largest recipient. The Colombian government has had flaws to guarantee the victims’ rights due to the lack of information regarding their rights and the little attention paid to this fragile population. As consequence, the restitution of their rights and the generation of new life options in Equator are not taken into account, so the refugees don’t know about their rights, and they do not demand them. Besides that, victims are trying to go unnoticed because of the fear of being returned or persecuted. For this reason, the question: At what level are the human rights of the Colombian refugees guaranteed in the provinces of the frontier of the north of Equator (Pichincha, Esmeraldas, Sucumbios y Carchi), considering the positions, the actions, and the actual situation of the Colombian and ecuatorian governments? Will be answered through three parts that will develop the investigation taking into account the stated objectives, which are: To determine the position of the Colombian and Ecuadorian government regarding the Colombian refugees in Equator, to identify the failures of the provision of information and support of the Colombian refugees in Equator, and to identify the way in which human rights are being guaranteed to the Colombian refugees in the frontier between Colombia and Ecuador.
