The present dissertation consists of a practical qualitative research whose main objective is to develop a didactic proposal aimed at facilitating the learning of Mandarin Chinese through mobile technologies, given the transcendence of these in the way of living and learning people experience nowadays. For this purpose, a theoretical review is carried out in order to cover concepts such as: foreign language learning (Ortega, 2009; Stern, 1998); the advance of technologies (De Juan Gonzalez, 2012, Kukulska-Hulme, 2009 and 2016); mobile learning (Brazuelo and Gallego, 2011; Cuervo and Ballesteros, 2015; Kukulska-Hulme; 2009; McQuiggan et al., 2015; Seiz, 2015); didactic materials development (Tomlinson, 2003 and 2011); the cognitive approach (Restrepo, 2010); Mandarin Chinese (Arevalo 2010; Chenling, 2013); and the necessary criteria to elaborate this type of tools. On the other hand, the methodology used to execute this proposal starts from the model for material development found in Tomlinson (2011) to create a mobile application prototype; this lies in the execution of seven phases: identification of needs, exploration of needs, contextual realization, pedagogical realization, physical production, use of material and evaluation of it. Additionally, data collection and analysis tools are used to identify and interpret the considerations of students and professors of Mandarin Chinese in connection with the need to develop this type of materials and the evaluation of the presented prototype. The results of the investigation allow to account for: the approach and development of the didactic proposal based on the considerations from the theoretical-practical criteria gathered throughout the work, the successes and failures of the prototype of the application, the relevance, advantages and challenges when using mobile devices to facilitate foreign language learning; and the need to provide relevant criteria, which come from different fields of knowledge, to propose and to design materials that meet the requirements and needs of a globalized world in constant evolution.
