This article presents some of the results of a research project developed in Fondecom’s Employee Savings Fund. This project’s objective was to identify the existing innovative practices used by the fund’s management and their results in the last five years from an economic and social points of view, as an organization for solidarity economy. A relation among the proposed levels of social innovation and some of the innovative practices implemented by Fondecom’s management has been established. The methodology used in this study was descriptive qualitative research of individual nature. The documentary research led to establish theoretical, conceptual and empirical references. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to managers, associates and experts in the solidarity sector. Also, the testimonies were contrasted to documentary records contained in reports to the Fondecom’s General Assembly and other official publications of the company. The results show social innovation practices in the managing of Fondecom. They are being developed in the three levels defined by the authors: the incremental, the institutional and the disruptive one. These innovations generate economic and social value for the stakeholders, modify lifestyles and social conditions by ensuring sustainability, in compliance with the company’s missionary purpose.
