This investigation has a double purpose: on one hand it seeks to integrate the evidence that supports the theoretical analysis on the development of gender cognition (CG) in childhood and the contribution of the means in that process.: on the other hand, use the accumulated evidence of the development of the CG to formulate criteria’s that orientates the decision making of the media producers who are interested in the equity promotion. Through a sequential quality methodology, which included four studies, it was done: a) a systematic revision of the development of the CG in childhood; b) a systematic revision of the role from the media in this process; c) a study of the criteria that the producers use in order to promote gender equity in childhood designing the objective of a media proposal; d) the design and validation of a guide for producers. In synthesis, the contribution of this paper pretends to promote the social appropriation of knowledge that its produced in the psychological discipline of the CG development in childhood and it can be summarized in the following points: a) concepts integrations, theories and discoveries of the CG development in childhood and the role of the media in this; b) timeline that provides information on the course development of the CG from birth till the age of 19; c) list and classification of instruments to access CG in childhood; d) identification of the criteria’s used for the media producers that aim infant audience, when they face with a task to create a proposals to promote gender equity; e) design and validation of the content of a guide for producers that make infant media, to facilitate the decision making in the creation of contents that pretends to promote equity gender based on available knowledge on the development of the CG.
