Cattle have complex relations with the landscapes in which it is established and with its different components, reflecting not only the economic logic of livestock production but also ecological interactions and important cultural values. Livestock landscapes are the expression of interactions between the natural environment and human activities that involve not only cattle but also a great diversity of associated crops, natural areas and several types of social webs of use and symbolic appropriation of the biophysical base which end up conforming multiple environments that change over time and space and are controlled by different but highly related features. This document takes the contributions and research of several authors who have investigated the effect of cattle in different landscapes of Colombia seeking make manifest the importance of this specie in the configuration not only of landscapes in all regions in the country, but also of the idiosyncrasy of those who habit it. We support us in this framework to present challenges and opportunities of livestock breeding in the face of sustainability, equity and peace as a part of ecosystem services management
