This work shows the process of regional configuration that was realized in the territory known today as Noite de Santander, in which a series of economic and social structures were develop, as well as the possible conformation of an Imagined Community For this an analysis over the main historical events important for this configuration was made, beginning with the indigenous population in the pre-Columbian period, then with the creation of European settlements, as well as the Spanish penetration of the Valley of Cucuta. the establishment of Cucuta as main regional urban center, the development of commercial and extractive economies, based on cacao, coffee, and petroleum, which led to creation of roads and railways in the territory It was also analyzed the conformation of political and administrative structures in the region, and the many conflicts of interest that were done for them, since the provinces inherit from colonial times, which led to the conformation of the federal state of Santander, that later became a department, and finally was divided, letting to the creation in 1910 of the department of Norte de Santander. Finally, it was analyzed the creation of an nortesantanderean identity, based on the conformation of myths by the local elite, who gave a particular interpretation of history, and led to the emergence of symbols and images unique of the region of Noite de Santander.
