This research aims to present the development of a digital application prototype that helps Spanish as a second language students learn lexical items, specially those used by the people living in Bogota, the capital city of Colombia. The prototype called ELEBogotaap attempts to integrate formal, informal learning and all different sceneries where learning takes place by means of different activities and special features that take into account all the pedagogical implications of the lexical approach as well as emerging technological and educational paradigms of the 21 st century.
