The closure plans mining in terms of the activities of restoration and planting of plant material to environmentally recover areas taken over by the mining projects, they tend to be a necessary minimum response to the standard policy and guidelines laid down by the competent authorities, at the time of the presentation of the required environmental studies for the approval of environmental licenses. This conceptual proposal contains the strategic approach of the potential, objectives, designs and treatments for the ecological restoration of the slag heap of the mine La Esperanza, based on the concept of induction, acceleration and orientation of ecological succession process for the restitution of the particular ecosystem function in the area. Also, with the results presented in this article, it aims to explore the interest of the company CEMEX to implement as a pilot ecological restoration treatment, the concept raised, in order to serve as reference for future restoration of areas that require mining closure plan of La Esperanza, under the objective of expectant possible use after final closure of the mine, for the establishment of an ecological park, so they can be replaced preset environmental rehabilitation activities, which in the long run can be less efficient in ecological terms.
