We was studied the richness, diversity and abundance of the amphibians and reptiles of the Centro Experimental Amazonico and sourrondings, located in the southern Andean-Amazon slope. We worked in two areas, open and secondary forest, using different techniques. It was reached 80% of the prospective species for a total of 248 individuals and fourteen lots of tadpoles, representing 53 species, 33 of amphibians (62%) and 20 of reptiles (38%). The indexes of diversity showed that this community presents a very high diversity and low dominance of species. The curves of relative abundance showed a bigger proportion of species with low categories of abundance; we found low likeness with significant differences among the two sampling areas, indicating that the species of amphibians and reptiles are particular and characteristic of each habitat, all related mainly with the space heterogeneity. This study incremented the number of species reported for the Putumayo Department in 18 species, and reveals higher levels of richness and diversity for the slopes than the spected, which are diminishing due to different human activities that bear to the lost of habitats and to the extinction of many populations of amphibians and reptiles.
