This research sought to determine how social networks can be places of learning for university students. To achieve this we conducted a collection of existing scientific production social networking and mobile applications in Latin American universities showed that the development of mobile applications promotes the connection between the student and the academy, provided the application meets with minimal levels of usability and functionality. Was also conducted fieldwork in the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, to know what are the most common social networking among students and how to use them, thereby allowing for information about the characteristics, customs, routines and habits of these networks.
