Caracterización de la conducta alimentaria de estudiantes y profesores de la Pontificia Universidad Javeriana a través del uso de aplicaciones móviles de comida a domicilio
In order to characterize the eating behaviour in regard to the use of food delivery apps in students and professors of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, qualitative-quantitative research was conducted through surveys and semi-structured interviews within the population. It was found that the students are the ones who use these applications the most, frequently on the weekends, in order to save time, not going out or cooking. Regarding the teachers, their behaviour was found to prefer to go to the restaurant instead of using the apps, for reasons such as preferring the experience of eating and sharing time with friends and family directly in the restaurant or cooking their own food. The students' eating behavior is based on the search of quick and economical options when eating, which is reflected in the fact that fast food reported higher consumption than healthy food, as it has the lowest price and fastest delivery time. On the contrary, the behaviors identified in the teachers are focused on maintaining traditions, giving food a space, place and time separate from other activities. Finally, it is important to note that there are currently no studies in Colombia about the impact that using these apps may have on the people’s eating habits. Thus, this work is a starting point for the realization of more studies in this regard, involving other factors such as nutritional status and the influence of the apps in different population groups.
