This dissertation looking for to analyzes the quality of information database of price, pharmaceutical expenditure and drugs consumption in some countries of Latin American for drug utilization in cross-national studies. Firstly, it was detected through a review that the IMS- Health database was the unique source that has been used in Latin American index journals from 2005 to 2015. This source was analyzed through a case study, and we found that this database collected prices data and wholesale market data by a survey. The results showed that it was just representative from private sector and out-patient consumption. And the other hand, the sampling and extrapolation methods used are not clear. Secondly, the analysis was performed on the eight medicine prices websites and government purchases. All of them were assessed about following criteria for undertaking international price comparisons: author information, accessibility, update (Site & price information), accessibility of price information and user-friendliness. The results showed that these websites allow detecting conflict of interests about authors. In the same way, provide to access about medicine price information. The interpretability of the price data for the user is assessed, thereby providing insight into the usefulness of web medicine price for international price comparisons. However, it is important that the researchers take into account some limitations. Finally, three prescription register were analyzed from healthcare providers. The results showed that each database establishes some specific criteria and these sources are useless for development in cross-national studies.
